March Storytellers Announced!
Larry Yarbrough, Tillinghast Professor of Religion and Director of the Scott Center for Spiritual and Religious Life, and Christal Brown, Assistant Professor of Dance and a choreographer,
educator, writer, and activist, will be our featured speakers for It’s Not What You Think on Thursday, March 10 from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. We’ll gather in the Axinn Abernethy Room. Refreshments will be served!
Christal Brown (choreographer, educator, performer, writer and activist) is a native of Kinston, North Carolina, and received her BFA in dance and minor in business from the University of NC at Greensboro. Upon graduation, she went on to tour nationally and internationally. Christal also apprenticed with the Liz Lerman Dance Exchange and the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company before finding a home with Urban Bush Women, where she spent three seasons as a principal performer, community specialist and apprentice program coordinator. She is the Founding Artistic Director of INSPIRIT, a performance ensemble and educational conglomerate dedicated to bringing female choreographers together to collaborate and show new work.
Larry Yarbrough joined the Religion Department in 1983 and is now the Tillinghast Professor of Religion and Director of the Scott Center for Spiritual and Religious Life. Larry’s teaching and publications focus in early Christianity and early Judaism; in his service to the College, Larry has been involved in many aspects of campus life.
